Brother KH-910 (aka CompuKnit II) is a domestic knitting machine produced by Brother.

It used mylar sheets to read patterns, without new sheets this old machine won't be useful for long. It can be converted to a Brother KH-950 and then hacked to a computer if someone finds the parts needed.

The AYAB-Apparat is a hardware hack, that let's you link the KH-910 to a computer. This is achieved by attaching a custom Arduino shield to the internal connectors.
