{{{ paraffin }}}

Paraffin wax is used to increase the slippyness of the yarn, so the knitting machine can process it more easily. It also allows the yarn to unwind from the cone in a more regular fashion. As a result the yarn gets stuck less frequently, and the yarn tension will be more constant.

Both yarn feeders and yarn winders may have a small block of paraffin wax attached, so the by-passing yarn gets paraffinated automatically.
